Traditionally, lip augmentation is carried out using skin and fat harvested from elsewhere in the body and inserted into the lip area through incision at the corner of the mouth.  The main disadvantage is the resorption of the tissue making the result variable.  Non-surgical methods include injection of free silicone and collagen and both method have major disadvantages and no longer used commonly.

Mr Ho-Asjoe performed hyaluronic acid (Juvéderm®) for lip enhancement which gives a naturally look with minimal swelling.  Juvéderm® is hyaluronic acid which is a natural occurring substance in the body and it will last for a period of around 9 months.  For more permanent effect, permalip is the treatment of choice.  Permalip is a soft silicone implant which can be inserted into both upper and lower lips under local anaesthesia.  The implant is a solid form and therefore, it will not rupture and leak and can be removed easily.
